A new version of Liero is needed. This has become obvious. Many have seen this, and some are doing something about it. Joosa, (the original author of Liero) is (supposidly) working on a Liero 2. There is also a community built Liero 2 which is in the works and you can go to liero2.com to check it out and contribute. Rage Squad clan leader, Gliptic is also working on a version, and giving us updates at the clan site.

If you want to get the latest, I would suggest checking out the Liero Net message board, which always has highly active threads on Liero 2 and the future of Liero in general.

So what IS going to be in the next Liero? Good question. For starters, it will most definitely be leaps and bounds above the original liero. All the qualities you loved in liero the original will remain in the new and improved Liero 2, the same game play and feel, and of course the fast paced real time combat that sets Liero apart from the rest!!

The prospects of a Liero 2 are exciting. All of the fans in the world are combining forces and developing the next version as a community. This is wonderful, since we all have tons of ideas for it, and what we would like to see accomplished in the next one. The general improvements to Liero will include LAN and internet play, and support up to 4 player multiplayer on screen. Also team play will be available. The graphics are getting a TOTAL make over, the weapons are being TOTALLY improved upon, background music, new powerups, new defensive mechanisms, digging weapons, and a revamped game engine. Check out a ton of suggestions for the new liero too. Names that have been discussed for the new Liero include: L2, LC, Wormz, Wormz of Death, Frag Mania, Frag Frenzy, Operation WormBoom, Worms Arena, Wormz Arena.

The graphics will totally be revamped. The worms most likely will look quite different. The resolution support and the color support will be better too. Expect to see new landscapes, textures, weapon graphics, backgrounds, program layout and design, rocks, and scenery.
